Establishing a nourishing relationship with food and eating promotes health and wellbeing. In this introductory session, you will learn the scientific basis of how we form eating habits and how we can use this knowledge to change them. You will also learn concrete mindfulness skills to help you become more aware of and gain control over your eating. By bringing mindfulness to automatic and unskillful eating patterns, you can make more intentional choices and free yourself from mindless or emotional eating.
Topics include:
The habit loop and ways to change habits
The joy and pleasure of eating mindfully
Managing urges using mindfulness
Cultivating compassion to support healthy choices
Resources to establish mindful eating habits will be suggested including links to guided practices, articles and an app.
Instructor: Robin Boudette, Ph.D., psychologist and Certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Instructor, has more than 20 years of experience working in the field of mindfulness- based eating awareness.
